  • Along the coastlines, guinea pigs may be roasted whole or grilled with herbs such as parsley and oregano

  • The Ecuadorian people have long used guinea pigs for nourishment and ritualistic cleansing, and have developed a variety of ways to consume them like ice cream. The demand for guinea pig ice cream continues to grow in Quito, Ecuador. 

Farmers have also pioneered new breeding techniques to maximize production and maintain quality for these small rodents.

As a result, guinea pig consumption continues to grow both inside Ecuador’s borders and abroad. All things considered, this ancient tradition shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

This makes them a key part of Ecuador’s history and culture. They are an integral part of the country’s economy and livelihood. They are also popular pets.
